What that means

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so that it can recognise the browser later. This site never makes that request. It also does not use the two related browser storage mechanisms, localStorage and sessionStorage.

Nothing on this site is measured. We do not know how many people visited, which pages they read, where they came from or what they did next, because nothing here is instrumented to find out. The pages are static files; they are sent to your browser and that is the end of the transaction.

The one request that goes elsewhere

The typefaces are served from Adobe Fonts rather than from our own server. Your browser fetches a stylesheet from Adobe, which means Adobe’s servers see your IP address and browser user-agent, in the same way any server does when you request a file from it. That request sets no cookie and returns nothing to us.

Everything else (every image, every stylesheet, every one of the very few lines of script on the site) is served from this domain.

Our own server logs

Requests to this site are written to a routine web-server access log: IP address, page requested, time, and user-agent. This is ordinary server operation rather than tracking. The logs rotate and overwrite themselves as they fill, and they are not analysed.

If you use the enquiry form

The form is the only place this site collects personal information, and it still involves no cookie. What it collects, why, who sees it and how to have it deleted are set out in the privacy notice.

If this changes

If we ever add analytics or anything else that sets a cookie, this page will say so before it goes live, and you will be asked for consent where POPIA requires it, not presented with a banner that treats scrolling as agreement.
