Privacy notice.
What we collect when you use this site, why we have it, who else sees it, and what you can require us to do about it.

Who is responsible for your information
Ingenious Group (“we”, “us”) is the responsible party for the personal information described here, as that term is used in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Our designated Information Officer can be reached at the address below. For anything on this page, including a request to see, correct or delete what we hold, write to info@ingenious.group.
What we collect, and when
This site collects personal information in exactly one place: the enquiry form at Start the Conversation. There is no account, no login, and no other form on the site.
What you type into the form
- Your name, and your email address, both required, because we cannot reply without them.
- Your company, your phone number, and how you heard about us, all optional.
- What you write in the message field. Please use your judgement about what you put there: it reaches us by email, and a first enquiry is not the right place for confidential details of your affairs.
What is recorded alongside it
When the form is submitted, our server also records the IP address the submission came from, the browser user-agent string it sent, and the page you were on when you submitted. We keep these to distinguish genuine enquiries from automated abuse. They are stored with the enquiry and are not used to build a profile of you or to track you across sites.
Our web server keeps a routine access log (the IP address, the page requested, the time, and the user-agent) for every request to the site, as almost every web server does. Those logs rotate and are overwritten as they fill; they are not analysed and not linked to any enquiry.
Why we have it, and on what basis
To respond to your enquiry, arrange and hold the conversation you asked for, and keep an ordinary business record of it afterwards. Under section 11 of POPIA we rely on your consent, given when you submit the form, and on the fact that processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a possible engagement.
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing, and we do not add you to a mailing list because you submitted an enquiry.
Who else sees it
Three service providers are involved in running this site. None of them receives your information for their own purposes.
- Microsoft: the enquiry notification is delivered to our founders@ingenious.group mailbox through Microsoft 365, and the site itself runs on a Microsoft Azure virtual machine.
- Adobe: the site’s typefaces are served from Adobe Fonts. Your browser requests the font stylesheet directly from Adobe, which means Adobe receives your IP address and user-agent as part of that request. It sets no cookie and we receive nothing back from it.
Information leaving South Africa
The server that runs this site, and the database the enquiry is stored in, are located in Microsoft Azure’s East US 2 region, in the United States. Microsoft 365 mailboxes and Adobe’s font network are similarly operated across data centres outside South Africa.
This is a cross-border transfer under section 72 of POPIA. It is permitted because these providers are bound by contractual terms requiring a level of protection substantially similar to POPIA, and because the transfer is necessary to perform the service you asked for. If you would rather not have your information leave the country, please telephone us on +27 11 568 5419 instead of using the form.
How long we keep it
We keep an enquiry for as long as we are in contact with you about it, and afterwards as an ordinary record of who approached us and what was discussed. Nightly backups of the enquiry store are deleted automatically after thirty days.
You can ask us to delete your enquiry at any time, and unless we are required to keep it for a legal or regulatory reason, we will.
How it is protected
- The whole site is served over HTTPS; the form cannot be submitted unencrypted.
- The enquiry store is on a private server, readable only by the account that runs the site, and is not reachable from the internet.
- The list of enquiries is not exposed through any web address. It is read over an administrative connection to the server.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may, at any time and without giving a reason:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete it, or to stop using it.
- Withdraw the consent you gave when you submitted the form.
- Object to our processing on grounds relating to your particular situation.
Write to info@ingenious.group and we will deal with it. There is no charge for asking.
If we get it wrong
You are entitled to complain to the regulator, and you do not have to raise it with us first, though we would rather you did, because we can usually fix it faster.

Cookies
This site sets none. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, no tag manager and no tracking of any kind, so there is no cookie banner to click through. The cookie notice explains what that means in a little more detail.
Changes
If we change how this site handles personal information, we will change this page and move the date at the top. Material changes to how we use information already collected will be notified to the people affected rather than left here to be discovered.
